Why a four-hour route beats a rushed six
Four hours is the commonest usable window on an Ethiopian connection, and there is a real difference between a product built for it and a longer product compressed into it. This one is built for it: the stop list is five rather than eight, the order runs as a loop rather than a scatter, and the start time moves to your flight.
It is also the least expensive way to get out of the terminal with a guide, and every entry ticket is already inside the fare. That matters more than it sounds. A self-organised four hours means a taxi you negotiate twice and a ticket queue at each door, and the queue is the thing that eats a short window.
The other quiet advantage is the monastery. Ta'eka Negest Be'ata Lemariam is a stop very few Addis Ababa routes make, and an hour there is a genuinely different thing from a third museum.

- National Museum of Ethiopia, one hour. Lucy, and the floors above her, with the queue skipped.
- Ta'eka Negest Be'ata Lemariam Monastery, one hour. A guided visit and a walk through the grounds.
- Mount Entoto, one hour. The climb, the view, and the eucalyptus Menelik imported.
- Addis Mercato, thirty minutes. A short guided pass through the market.
- A local café, thirty minutes. Coffee, and the tasting that comes with it.
- A local restaurant, forty minutes. Optional and charged separately.
- Back to Bole. In time for your onward flight.

Bole, both ends. Pickup is included, and the point is confirmed when you select a date rather than being fixed on the listing. For a transit passenger that is the whole point: you come out of the single arrivals exit and the car is there.

Know before you go
- Mondays close the National Museum. The operator substitutes the ethnographic collection rather than dropping a stop.
- Holy Trinity is not on the route. It can be arranged on request; ask before the day.
- The ridge is 3,200 metres. Go slowly and drink water, especially if you landed that morning.
- Not suitable for babies under one or for travellers over seventy, per the listing.
- Bring small notes. The restaurant stop is charged separately and markets prefer cash.
- Cover shoulders and knees. The monastery expects it, and a light scarf is enough.

Will four hours really be enough?
For five stops with a car and a guide, yes. What it is not enough for is doing them slowly, so the day is built to move. If you would rather spend two hours in one place than half an hour in four, take a full-day route instead.
What happens if I land on a Monday?

Are the entrance tickets included?
