Not every review is five stars, and the ones that are not are the useful ones. One traveller in January 2020 came away with a good first impression but a guide who was not especially informative, and was not told in advance that the museums would be shut that day. Another arrived on a quiet Easter Sunday without realising Ethiopia keeps its own calendar.
Both are the same problem and both have the same fix: name the date when you book and ask what is open. The National Museum of Ethiopia closes on Mondays, Mercato closes on Sundays, and the Ethiopian feast days move against the Gregorian calendar every year.
